Peter Nicholson Peter Nicholson Peter Nicholson is a Glasgow-based cellist | improviser | songwriter. Though best known for his work with The One Ensemble, he has recently finished a solo album of songs, some of which can be heard here. His voice has become an integral part of his practice and performance, either as an independent melodic line or as a textural extension of the cello. Much of Peter's music is informed by improvisation. As well as working as a solo artist, he plays with the Glasgow Improvisers Orchestra (GIO), in a duo with saxophonist Raymond Macdonald, and as part of a guitar / cello / electronics trio, The Age of Wire and String. His most recent CD releases are 'Other Thunders' (No-Fi), 'Dummy Jim' with The One Ensemble and 'Street Level' (Iorram) with Raymond MacDonald. Peter regularly performs with various classical ensembles, and is currently working with Glasgow-based string quartet Viridian. Peter has worked with artists and ensembles including Ravi Shankar, Kevin Ayers, Axel Dörner, Nalle and the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra. He regularly records sessions for film soundtracks and video games. His latest credit is on the soundtrack for hit Zombie Slasher game Dead Island.
